Hello Sir

The Story

Perhaps ten years ago, we were sitting in a bar in a dusty little Mexican town, somewhere halfway between Saltillo and Torreón. After the fourth tequila, even the peeling plaster on the wall seemed friendly, and we lazily stared into the bottoms of our glasses. Then, out of nowhere, a husky voice spoke:
- Hola, señor! - our blood ran cold…

For a moment, we didn't know whether to hide or run. Slowly, we dared to turn around.
-¿Le interesa el café mexicano?- he asked with complete seriousness.
- Sí…- we answered decisively, because one does not argue with a mariachi in a pink dress.

At that moment, a huge fiesta broke out in the bar. Suddenly we felt as if we were in the middle of one of the most extraordinary experiences of our lives - or a very strange dream.

Exactly the same surprise awaited us when we first tasted this fantastic Mexican coffee (which was the first Mexican coffee in our story). Can something be both so special and so invigorating? The answer is yes! At Samurai Shoelace, we are not afraid to step outside the box - and this bold spirit can be felt in every single one of our coffee capsules.

The green coffee from the farm was roasted by us and encapsulated in the Samurai Shoelace factory in Budapest. Only freshly ground coffee goes into our capsules; we add nothing else! (This is why all our coffees are gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free, and additive-free!)

The box contains 10 Nespresso* compatible coffee capsules (299 Ft/pc).

The story:

Our first Mexican coffee comes from the historic Huatusco in the Veracruz region.

The Huatusco area is the largest coffee-producing region in Veracruz, part of the "Veracruz Coffee Route" (Ruta Veracruzana del Café). Thanks to its favorable geographical location, soil quality, and climate, Huatusco coffee possesses all the characteristics of high-quality highland coffees.

Huatusco society has been closely linked to coffee culture for over a century, which has been one of the main economic drivers since the 19th century. In 1882, only 33 coffee plantations were registered in the canton, which included Huatusco and 8 other areas, while the 1890 census registered 2270 coffee producers, described as people "generally of good habits, industrious and progressive in spirit."

In terms of taste, Hola Señor is less acidic, bringing out sweeter notes, with a rather surprising smokiness (characteristic of Mexican cuisine). We recommend it for intense espresso or milk-based drinks.

Origin: Mexico

Region: Chiapas (Huatusco, Veracruz)

Altitude: 976 m

Variety: Typica - Oro Azteca

Processing: washed

Our capsules contain only ground, roasted coffee, nothing else!

Our recommendation for coffee

Black: sweet, aromatic, perfumed, but not at all acidic espresso. Try it with more water after the coffee has been brewed (without the capsule).

With milk: In our opinion, it's ideal for a cortado, but also for a latte (A lot of milk will slightly dull its flavor, but it will still be a very sweet, pleasant coffee)

If you want something special:It's especially good for long coffee, so make a short espresso, then take the capsule out of the machine and pour hot water into the cup "empty" (be careful, it will be very hot). You'll get a much teaier, softer drink, while the taste remains the same!
